Dr.
Louise Taber is board certified in Internal medicine. She completed
her medical residency at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix and internship
at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro, NC. Her medical school
was University of Arizona, College of Medicine, Tucson, AZ. She also
has a Master's degree in Human Development and a BS (Highest Distinction)
in Nutrition, both from the University of Maine, Orono, ME. She is a
Certified Physician Investigator and a Fellow of the American College
of Physicians. She has maintained her certification as a Registered
Dietitian and has a keen interest in obesity, metabolism, endocrinology,
and diabetes. She belongs to several professional societies and has
been active in the community.
Dr. Taber joined Pivotal Research Centers as a full time Principal
Investigator in 2007.

Deborah Michael, MD

Dr. Deborah Michael is a board certified in Internal Medicine (1991)
and is in the process of recertification. She completed her internship
and medical residency at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois.
Her medical school was University of Illinois, College of Medicine in
Chicago. Dr. Michael has been practicing in the field of Internal Medicine
and has experience as an Investigator in clinical trials. She has an
interest in obesity, hormonal issues (menopause), and cardiac (lipid,
etc.) issues. Dr. Michael belongs to several professional societies,
has been active in and on numerous committees at John C. Lincoln Hospital,
North Mountain, and has been active in the community.
Dr. Michael joined Pivotal Research Centers as a full time Principal
Investigator in 2008

Robert Rankel, MD, FACS

Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Robert Rankel earned his Bachelor of Science degree at the University
of Notre Dame before receiving his medical degree from Upstate Medical
College of the State University of New York. He completed his surgical
residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin. After retiring his commission
from the United States Army, he has practiced general surgery in Phoenix
for the past 27 years. Dr. Rankel was a practicing trauma surgeon for
more than 20 years and has chaired Emergency/Disaster Committees, hospital
Surgical Departments and Symposia on Trauma Care. Additionally, he is
currently pursing a master’s degree in Bioethics.
Dr. Rankel joined Pivotal Research Centers as a Sub-Investigator in
2006.

John Newman, MD

John Newman, MD is a board certified neurologist. He graduated from
Queens University in Canada and performed his Residencies in Neurology
in the Baylor University Program in Houston, TX and the Henry Ford Hospital
in Detroit, MI. He was the Chief Resident in Neurology at the Toronto
Western Hospital and completed his Fellowship with the Royal College
of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Dr. Newman continues a clinical practice in neurology. He has also
been involved as a sub-investigator on several research trials over
the past three years.
Dr. Newman joined Pivotal Research Centers as a part-time sub-investigator
in 2007.

Christy Brown, FNP

Melissa “Christy” Brown, FNP is a board certified Family
Nurse Practitioner. She received her Associates in Nursing at Glendale
Community College. Christy continued her education while working as
a Labor and Delivery Nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital and Banner Thunderbird.
She received her Bachelor of Nursing, Masters of Nursing and Family
Nurse Practitioner from the University of Phoenix. In addition to Pivotal
Research, Christy works part time as an OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner and
is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Christy joined the Pivotal staff in 2006 as a Sub-Investigator.

Sidney Spector, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr.
Sidney Spector is a boarded neurologist and experienced principal investigator
and research scientist. He has published a considerable number of articles
in neural control of movement, Parkinson’s and neuromuscular disease,
both in clinical and basic science. He has performed as a principal
investigator in multiple trials in Alzheimer’s disease and peripheral
neurology.
More recently he has been Regional Medical Director with Elan Pharmaceuticals
and before that, Pfizer’s Director of the Western Region as a
Medical Regional Research Specialist, CNS division. He served as adjunct
professor of Exercise Sciences at Arizona State University and a guest
lecturer at University of Tel Aviv following tenure as a guest researcher
at Hebrew University. His doctorate is in kinesiology which he obtained
at UCLA. He has a BS from University of Maryland and his MS in kinesiology
is from UCLA.
Dr. Spector completed his medical education at Sackler School of Medicine
at the University of Tel Aviv. Following this he performed his medical
internship at St. Joseph’s Hospital (Phoenix) and finished with
a residency in neurology at Barrow Neurological Institute. He then completed
a clinical fellowship in Neuromuscular Diseases at the National Institutes
of Health, where he conducted clinical trials in neuromuscular diseases.
Dr. Spector joined Pivotal Research Centers in 2007 as a full-time
investigator.

Suzanne Sisley, MD

Dr. Suzanne Sisley, MD entered a thriving private family practice
8 years ago in the inner city of Phoenix. In addition to her duties
at her private office, Dr. Sisley also serves as Clinical Faculty at
St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center at the Mercy Care Adult Medicine
Clinic for indigent patients in Phoenix, AZ. Dr. Sisley was recently
appointed Director of Interprofessional Education for the Arizona Telemedicine
Program (ATP) after serving as a medical consultant and clinical lecturer
for ATP’s Telepsychiatry clinic since early 2007.
Dr. Sisley graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree
in Chemistry/Pre-Med and a minor in Theater. She proceeded to Tucson
where she completed her medical degree at the University Of Arizona
College Of Medicine. In 2000, Dr. Sisley completed her five-year Residency
Training at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in the fields of
Internal Medicine and Psychiatry.
She is involved in many other aspects of her community with membership
on over a dozen boards ranging from the NAU Alumni Board to the Board
of AZ Town Hall, Phoenix Theatre and the Scottsdale Bond Review Commission.
Dr. Sisley has been featured in many journals ranging from Today's Arizona
Woman to AZ Parenting, and also recently had an article on tobacco-control
published in JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association). Sue
also volunteers as a Health Reporter for NBC's local affiliate, Channel
12-KPNX, appearing as a medical consultant on various public health
topics.
In 2003, Dr. Sisley received the Arizona Medical Association's highest
honor, the President's Distinguished Service Award.
Dr. Sisley joined Pivotal Research Centers as a Sub-Investigator in
2008.

Daniel Brennan Vine, M.D.

Dr.
Vine is a board certified neurologist and maintains an active neurological
practice in the greater Salt Lake City area. Dr. Vine’s investigative
experience spans over 50 clinical trials in CNS and metabolic indications
including Alzheimer’s, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, depression,
anxiety, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, obesity and
insomnia. Dr. Vine attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine
in Houston, Texas and went on to complete his residency at the University
of Utah. Dr. Vine is a member of the Association of Clinical Neurophysiology.
In addition to holding a license to practice medicine in Utah, Dr. Vine
completed a masters program in chemical engineering. He enjoys mountain
bike riding in the mountains outside his home, music and reading. Dr.
Daniel Vine has been a Principal Investigator at Pivotal since August
of 2004.

Sandy Yeates, MSN, APRN, NP-C

Board Certified Adult Nurse Practioner
Sandy Yeates has been a board certified Adult Nurse Practitioner since
2002. She is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
She received her initial nursing degrees from Brigham Young University
and completed her Master's degree at Westminster College. Her specialties
include diabetes and pulmonary diseases, specifically deep vein thrombosis
and pulmonary embolus. She has been involved in research for 18 years,
publishing 3 articles on diabetes as a first author and been involved
in several other publishing efforts. Her past nursing positions have
included staff nursing in Orthopedics, staff and head nursing in the
Medical-Surgical ICU at LDS Hospital, and being a staff member in the
Pulmonary Division with Dr. Greg Elliott. Sandy joined the Pivotal staff
in June of 2007 as a Sub-Investigator
